CMS or a simple static site — which one fits you?
If you plan to publish regularly, you need a CMS. If not, a fast static site will serve you better and cost less.
A CMS (content management system) is software that lets non-developers edit the site. WordPress, Sanity, Payload, Strapi and Shopify all count. It is powerful, but it is not always the right answer.
Choose a CMS if
- You plan to publish blog posts, news, events or portfolio items regularly.
- Multiple people need to edit content.
- You want to change prices, staff bios or gallery images yourself.
Choose a simple static site if
- The content will barely change once launched.
- You want maximum speed and minimum hosting cost.
- You would rather pay me a small fee for the occasional edit than manage a login yourself.
Both options are on the services. Feel free to get in touch if you want a straight recommendation for your situation.
